Yesterday the big snowstorm was predicted. Having lived in two countries where snow is the norm most people would not expect me to be very excited but I was like a five year old. Originally the snow was predicted to arrive after midnight. The next estimation was 6am. I hoped for the original estimation and began checking out the window every ten minutes from about 11.30pm onwards. Eventually I had to give in at 2am when I got tired. So when I awoke at 6am to see all the snow outside I was ecstatic!! Both RC and my students at work had clearly stated I was not to call or text them to inform them of the snowfall in the middle of the night on pain of death but surely 6am (7am Dutch time) would be okay to text RC and tell him of the snowfall. So that’s what I did. I did manage to receive a short text back before he promptly went back to sleep.

Outside I removed between 4-5 inches of snow from my car and set off on near deserted roads. Only once did I come across an icy patch which I maneuvered well. So now I sit at work watching the snow fall and letting my shoes dry out.

Off to watch the snow…
